Some guests at dinner and in the evening; almost everything evaporates/all passes away in a somewhat indifferent manner. The scaffolding, still remaining in the theatre, drives R. to sheer despair, which he communicates to the architect Brückwald; the latter apologies most humbly and well, whereas the foreman, Runckwitz, shows himself altogether treacherous and crude.
