At the Trade Museum [1] I paid my devotions to the holy Franciscus of Cano; later visited Marie Dönhoff and Marie Hohenlohe. Then a most agreeable dinner at the house of Director Jauner; at eight o’clock departure; the choir once more at the railway station—in the waiting-room “Wacht auf,” sung by them with wondrous beauty, leaving the profoundest impression. The lofty hall, dimly illuminated, this poor multitude, suddenly resounding in sublime tones—such a scene leaves a deep impression and a transfigured image! …
