This morning I gave Eilers a piece of my mind, no holds barred. I cut him with sharp knives. God knows everything I told him. The rehearsal with Miss Scheffsky, in which I pointed out all the faults that she would soon overcome with firm resolve and good will, went as I had hoped. Mrs. Cosima, whom I spoke to shortly before getting into the car, was very satisfied. Eilers she found appalling. And yet I must confess that I have already seen some fruit of my efforts. When I told him this, saying it partly to put a bandage on the wounds I had inflicted, he was so happy that he kissed me.
The doctor has given permission for Wagner to go to rehearsals in the evenings; he can no longer be kept away.
